What to know before changing MacBook Pro fan speed

What is a fan curve?

A fan curve maps temperature to fan speed. For example, it can keep lower fan speed near 45 C and move toward stronger cooling near 70 C.

When should a fan-off range be used?

Some MacBook Pro models may keep fans stopped or very low when the machine is cool. In FanCurve Mac, the fan-off range means releasing control back to macOS below a temperature you choose, not forcing a permanent 0 RPM target.
